James L. Neppl
James L. Neppl was born in Carroll, Iowa. He is a graduate of Our Lady of
Good Counsel High School, Fonda, Iowa; Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa (1964)
with a B.A. in economics; University of Iowa College of Law (1967). He
worked as a assistant trust officer at The National Bank and Trust Company
of Sycamore, Sycamore, Illinois From 1967 - 1969. He was an Assistant
State's Attorney for Rock Island County 1969 - 1973, and Assistant Public
Defender for Rock Island County 1973-1974. He has been in private practice
since 1973. Jim's specialty is domestic law and related matters. He also
practices in the areas of real estate, wills and probate, bankruptcy, and
personal injury litigation.
Jim is socially fluent in 6 languages including English, Russian, Spanish,
French, Italian and German. He was a 4-year Letterman in basketball while
in College and he is a seven time Olympic gold medalist in blind sports. He
is a past regional chair for the North American Region of the International
Blind Sports Association, and is past chair for the Americas for the
International Paralympics Committee. He has also been a member of the board
of directors of the United States Association for Blind Athletes and was
vice-president of the organization for seven years.

John
Steckel received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the
University of Colorado in 1993, and received his law degree from
Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1997. He was an
Assistant County Attorney in Marshalltown, Iowa for two years. He
then joined the firm of Vanderginst, Roche & Westensee its
dissolution until he joined the Neppl Law Firm in 2004.
He founded a chapter of the Zeta Psi Fraternity of North America.
Recruited and persuaded 25 undergraduates to join and create active
fraternity.
He received the following scholastic honors: Best Grade Award,
Evidence, Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society
John has obtained multiple verdicts and settlements in personal
injury cases, many in excess of six figures. He has developed a
system to maximize damage awards through careful client preparation
and the use of expert witnesses. He has obtained multiple "not
guilty" jury verdicts in complex Class X felony cases and other
serious crimes. He is skilled in DUI defense and drug cases. He
also has a busy family law practice including custody, child support
and visitation.
He is admitted to practice before the Courts of Iowa, Illinois, and
Federal.
